Muriel C. Vincent, 90, Fargo, ND died on Monday, April 22, 2013 in Touchmark at Harwood Groves, Fargo.

Muriel was born in Spokane, WA and attended school in Portland, OR. She received her Pharmacy degree from Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Washington, Seattle. She taught for two years in the School of Pharmacy at Oregon State University in Corvallis and for 31 years in the NDSU College of Pharmacy, retiring in 1987 as Professor Emeritus. She held pharmacy licenses for 50 years in OR, WA and ND.

Marvin Bossart
Marvin D. Bossart, 79, Fargo, ND, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Edgewood Vista in Fargo, ND.

Marvin D. Bossart was born on February 8, 1934, in Fargo, ND to David C. and Mabel C. Bossart. He attended Fargo Central High School, graduating in 1952. He then attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks graduating in 1956. During college Marv met the love of his life, Betty Brown of Fargo. They married on August 11, 1956 at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo. Together they moved to Evanston, Illinois where Marv attended Northwestern University at the Medill School of Journalism. He graduated from Northwestern in 1958 with a Masters Degree in journalism. While attending Northwestern, he worked alongside radio personality Paul Harvey, writing news. Marv and Betty moved back to Fargo later in 1958 when he began his career in broadcast journalism at WDAY television and radio. In 1963, after five years working as a reporter in the field, WDAY-TV recognized his talents and passion for broadcasting, and he became the newscaster for the 6 and 10 o’clock newscasts. His broadcast career spanned more than four decades. Marv anchored the news until his retirement in 2000.

Kimberly Martinson passed away at her home on April 22, 2013, at the age of 36.

Kimberly Ann Gronland was born in Ocean Springs, MS, on April 7, 1977, to Larry Gronland and Linda Coleman. She moved to Fargo, ND, when she was two years old and has lived there throughout her life, except when she left for college to study nursing. She graduated with a BA in nursing from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD in 1999. She also earned a degree in legal nurse consulting soon after, and worked with several attorneys in the region.

Verlyn Chapin, age 77, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, died peacefully in his sleep on Tues, April 23, 2013, at his residence after a short battle with lung cancer.

Verlyn Duane Chapin was born on January 7th 1936 in Star Lake Township Ottertail County, Minnesota to Horace and Evelyn Marie (Swanson) Chapin. He was baptized and confirmed at Maine Presbyterian Church.

Mabel A. Feldman, 84, surrounded by her children, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2013 in Detroit Lakes, MN where she has resided since 2006. Funeral service was held Wednesday, April 17th at 2:00 pm. at the United Methodist Church in Pembina, ND. Visitation was held the night before at the church.

Mabel Ann Middleton was born August 11, 1928 in Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was youngest of six children born to Joseph and Emma (Ottem) Middleton.

Inez Marguerite Meyer
Inez Marguerite Meyer passed away April 18, 2013, at age 99. She was born September 26, 1913 to Raymond and Agnes Wilkinson in Chester, MT. She moved to Fargo as a child and married her high school sweetheart, Frank William Meyer in 1934.

She was a nurse and worked at Fargo St. John’s Hospital, for Dr. Kulland in West Fargo, ND and retired from West Fargo Public Schools.

Ardell C. Wickoren, 76, Wyndmere, ND, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at Essentia Health, Fargo. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, 2:00 PM, at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, with Rev. Bob Caranicas officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 PM to 8 PM, with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Freeman Cemetery, rural McLeod. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements.

Ardell Curtis Wickoren was born March 8, 1937 in McLeod, ND, the son of Ingvold and Nellie (Sveum) Wickoren. He was baptized and confirmed in Bethany Lutheran Church, McLeod. He attended school in McLeod. At an early age he took an interest in farming and ranching with his Uncle Nelius Sveum and continued working with Uncle Milard Sveum. He worked for LeRoy and Lila Erickson, Delamere, ND, before moving to South Dakota for five years where he was a feedlot manager. Ardell took much pride in his 36 years with Wil-Rich Manufacturing, Wahpeton, where he was a welder.

Barbara M. (Zwack) Short, 76, Fargo passed away after a long courageous 8 year battle with Cancer on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Barb was born March 23, 1937 in Georgetown, MN to Fedilius and Gertrude (Hohnadel) Zwack. As a young girl, Barb moved to Fargo graduating from Shanley High School in 1955. She worked at Shanley High School for 12 years before starting her own small bookkeeping business.

Alice Mae Wegner, 85, Moorhead, MN, died on Friday, April 19, 2013 in Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Alice Mae was born on Dec 18, 1927 in Underwood MN to Martin and Minnie (Lofthus) Larson. She graduated from Fergus Falls high school in 1944 and from the Fergus Falls teacher training department in 1945. She taught for four years in rural schools near Battle Lake. In 1950 she moved to Fargo with her mother and sisters where she was employed by Commercial Credit for over thirty years. She married Robert L. Wegner of Moorhead on August 12, 1978 at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo ND. Sadly, Bob passed away on May 22, 2006.

Selma A. Merkens, 93, formerly of Shelly, MN, died at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Selma was born April 7, 1920, at home on the farm near Shelly, the daughter of Ordean and Selma (Ueland) Henderson. She attended school near Shelly. On September 9, 1940, Selma was united in marriage to Chester Merkens, in Ada, MN. The lived and farmed near Shelly for many years until his death in 1981.

Lucille was born August 23, 1935 in Sharon, ND, the daughter of George and Lillian (Olsen) Strand. She retired from the City of Fenton serving as the city clerk for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother to: two daughters, Susan (Don) Bowden of Ray, MI, Sandra (Mark) Moreland of NV; son, James Little of HI; four grandchildren, Christine and Katherine Bowden, Lindsay Brabon and Taylor Moreland; four siblings, Owen (Cheryl) Strand, Kitty Pence, Bobbie Goodyear, and Benton Strand; many nieces and nephews.
