Letter: Christie visit to Fargo worth a belly laugh
Having Gov. Chris Christie here to “support and endorse” Rick Berg et al. is ludicrous at the least and worth a full belly laugh at the best.

Letter: Berg wrong man for ND farmers
It now appears that the farm bill will not be passed before the election. Sens. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., and John Hoeven, R-N.D., passed a good bill out of the U.S. Senate, but Congressman Rick Berg, R-N.D., was unable and unwilling to get his party to even take up a farm bill – any farm bill – on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Letters: Party bosses will rule
Labels are often applied to U.S. presidents. Bush is labeled as the worst. Clinton deserves to be called the lucky sleaze. Reagan was the smooth communicator. Carter, the most pathetic. And so on. Obama could be the most dangerous.

Forum editorial: We hate ads, but they work

Letter: Split the ticket in North Dakota
This session of Congress is considered by many to be the worst ever. Extreme partisanship routinely blocks congressional action. No one has been more partisan than Rep. Rick Berg, R-N.D., never showing the good sense and courage to put aside party to work for all the people he represents.

Political ads: If it’s mostly true, that’s good enough
FARGO – For most every accusation made in a political advertisement, there is a cry for the accuser to take it back. Rare is the attack ad that doesn’t elicit denials and calls to set the record straight. Rarer still is the ad that actually gets pulled from the airwaves – usually over a detail, not the message itself.

Heitkamp clearly on our side
‘I vote the person, not the party.” North Dakotans are historically comfortable splitting their vote between party lines, and expecting their representative to do what’s best for North Dakota even when it requires bucking their own party.

She can’t run from her record
North Dakotans deserve to get “The Rest of the Story” on Heidi Heitkamp’s campaign for U.S. Senate. A recent mailer touted her plans to “put party interests aside.” Does anyone, anywhere believe that she can rake in campaign cash from typical liberal Democratic sources and then, if elected, disregard their views? Of course not.
