WEST FARGO – The Band Perry was worth the wait for the Red River Valley Fair. The country trio canceled their 2012 appearance, vowing to make up the date. The sibling act did just that on Saturday, drawing about 21,000, the biggest grandstand crowd in recent history, said Bryan Schulz, general manager.

Dr. H. J. Ruebke, 92, Ada, Minnesota, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Bridges Care Community, Ada, MN.

Henry Jacob, was born September 12, 1920 in Ada, MN to Albert and Irma (Schwartz) Ruebke. He attended school in Green Meadow Township and graduated from Ada High School. Henry, “Doc” attended pre-veterinary at North Dakota State University in Fargo from 1939-1940. Doc then attended Iowa State University and graduated from Iowa State University in Veterinary Medicine in 1943. During this time, he also served in the U.S. Army. From 1943-1946, Doc practiced in Wadena, MN. While living there, he met Marybelle “Jerry” Moehler. They were married June 15, 1946. Doc taught Bacteriology and Infectious Diseases at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He continued his teaching at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas in 1950-1951. Doc began his private practice in Ada, MN in 1951 and sold it in 1962. He became District Veterinarian for the State of Minnesota in 1962 and retired in 1993.

Robert A. Sailer
Robert A. Sailer, 75, West Fargo, passed away Monday, July 1 at his home.

Bob was born October 28, 1937 in Sioux City, IA to John and Gertrude (McNulty) Sailer. Bob moved around during his childhood, graduating from Mt. Carmel High School, Chicago, IL in 1955. Bob attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN as well as NDSU. He worked at Dakota Bank in Fargo before enlisting in the U.S. Army on January 12, 1961. He was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS before being sent to Korea.
