Dolores was born May 20, 1924 in Barnesville, MN to Paul and Julia Fankhanel. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1942. She graduated from NDSU in 1946 with a degree in Home Economics. She taught in Lancaster, MN, Frazee, MN, Barnesville, MN, and Oakes, ND. Dolores married Clarence Ebert on June 25, 1950. They made their homes in Barnesville, MN, Oakes, ND, and Fargo, ND. Dolores moved into the Hillsboro Nursing Home in March 2011.

Regina Florence Bornstedt Smith, age 87, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 20, 2013.

Regina was born May 3, 1926, to Alfred and Mary Bornstedt of New York City. She grew up in the Bronx and was a graduate of Mount St. Ursula Academy and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She married the love of her life, James Brendan Smith, M.D., on June 14, 1947, in New York City, and they immediately moved to south California, where he completed his assignment in the United States Navy and his medical residency. Together, they raised six children: four boys and two girls. In 1967, they gave up a hectic city life in California for a small town in Powers Lake, ND, where they continued to raise their family.

LuElla Joann Effie Karevold, 81, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN. LuElla Brekke was born September 25, 1932, to Leonard and Rose (Menarick) Brekke. She grew up near Greenbush and graduated from the AC (Agricultural College) in Crookston, MN, where she met Carl “Gilmore” Karevold. They were married on June 9, 1951. Together they made their home and farmed near Fosston, MN. She was well known in the area for her singing and belonged to the McDowell Club an area women's choir. LuElla also worked for many years as a CNA, at a nursing home in McIntosh, MN and enjoyed caring for others. She was a great cook, great baker as well as a talented seamstress. Around age 50 she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. She enjoyed life on the farm until 1983, then due in part, to failing health, they moved to Moorhead. Most recently she resided at Golden Living Center in Moorhead. LuElla is survived by her children, LuAnn (Dale) Hanson of Richfield, MN, Sheryl Berg of Fargo, ND, Lorie (Jeff) Leslie of St. Michael, MN, Bruce (Jolene) Karevold of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Mara Hanson, Mark (Valerie) Hanson, Christopher (Christina) Berg, Heather (Josh) Cameron, Jeff Leslie, Jr., Bruce Leslie, Hanna Karevold, Emily Karevold, and great-grandchildren, Cody, Wazir, Bakr, Jared and Idrese Jafar, Blake Leslie, Savannah & Sydney Ellison and Hayden Cameron.

Mons Ohnstad
Mons Ohnstad had one of the most uniquely positive, yet simple, perspectives and approaches to life that we will ever know. He was a man true to his commitments, a generous, trustworthy man, devoted to family and appreciative of good friends. He was born to Mayme Flora Newton and Mons Klingenberg Ohnstad of Sharon, ND, on October 30, 1923. Mons grew up working in the family's drug store serving malts and sodas and delivering prescriptions around town. His dog, Spike, pulled him to school on a sled during the snowy Sharon winters.

Mons was a natural athlete, short but fast, he would say. He earned many awards as a sprinter and anchor of the relay team. His basketball team won the State Consolidated League Tournament in 1941; Mons was named All State Forward. Following graduation Mons attended the American College of Physical Education in Chicago. He also took classes at Northwestern and was the Assistant Boys' Director at the Garibaldi Settlement House.
