Letter: Season not easy for the elderly
Just last week, as I was coming out of a store, I noticed a older woman carrying her package and slowly walking back to her car on a very snowy and icy compacted parking lot. I simply asked her if she wanted to hold on to me while she walked the 80 feet back to her car. She mentioned that she had already had a couple of falls earlier this year. Then, this week as I was going into the grocery store, I ran into another elderly woman with a cane making her way across the compacted snow and ice into the store. I offered her my arm to get to the sidewalk, which was much clearer.
