Mark Scott Johnson, age 51, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Platte, SD. Mark was born the son of Marvin and Marcy (Bjerke) on August 1, 1962. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri, Lutheran Church in Nome, ND. He graduated from Maple Valley High School in 1980. Mark attended Valley City State University earning an Associate Degree. Mark then ranched with his brother Gary until 1993.

In 1989, Mark married Melissa Mack in Pettibone, ND. In 1993, they moved to Tappen, ND where Mark was employed as a farm/ranch hand. The family moved to South Dakota, in 2005, where Mark continued to ranch. He was currently working at Dakota Manufacturing in Platte, SD.

Henry "Hank" E. Nelson
Henry “Hank” E. Nelson, 78, of Hawley, MN, died November 8, 2013, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Henry was born June 28, 1935, in Pelican Rapids, MN, and the first born, to Edwin and Violet (Gunderson) Nelson. He grew up in Rollag, MN, where he attended country school, later moving into Hawley where he graduated from Hawley High School. Following high school he joined the National Guard and served our country. One of the major roles he served in was being on a crew that helped revived Fargo after the 1957 tornado. Henry was a member of Rollag Lutheran Church where he was confirmed. Henry married Kathy Malakowsky on September 18, 1971. He worked for Burns Motors, Don Stone’s Motor and the DeForrest Iverson Farm.

Kaili passed away of natural causes in her home in Fargo on November 6, 2013. She is greatly missed by family and friends around the world. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Tuesday, November 12th, at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Wildrose. Kaili's final resting place will be at the Wildrose Cemetery.

Gertrude Margaret Ginsbach, 83 of Hankinson, ND passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral mass was Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Hankinson, ND with Fr. Scott Sautner as celebrant. Visitation was Friday from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson. Visitation was also one hour prior to mass at the church. Pallbearers are: Ryan Ginsbach, Erica Manor, Natalia Ginsbach, Michael Ginsbach, Michael Barlow, Gregory Barlow, Andrew Barlow, Mike Coppin, Paul Reinke & Bruce Stein. Organist will be Mary Ellen Krump with special music by St. Philip’s Choir.

Gertrude Margaret Sadlicki was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 2, 1930, to Michael and Stella (Stephania Natalia Rupert) Sadlicki. She was the youngest of five children and her sister Margaret chose her little sister’s name in honor of a close friend. She was baptized and confirmed as an infant in Chicago at the Church of ST. Nicholas. Gertie attended public schools in Chicago through second grade and then moved with her parents and sister to Hankinson where she attended grades three through five. Due to the need for her father to help with the family sign painting business in Chicago during World War II, she moved back with her parents and completed grades six through eight in Chicago.

Barbara (Bohn) Hlavaty
Barbara (Bohn) Hlavaty, 64, Menahga, MN, originally Wahpeton, ND, passed away unexpectadly, Friday, November 1, 2013, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. The Memorial Service will be November 6, Wednesday, 1 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, (920 3rd Ave. N.) Wahpeton, ND. There will be visitation with the family one hour before the service. Inurnment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, have been entrusted with the arrangements.

Barb was born January 20, 1949 at Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Norman and Vivian (Ehlers) Bohn. She grew up in Wahpeton, was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, ND, and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Barb attended grade school in Wahpeton. During her youth she spent many winter hours skating in Chahinkapa Park; also developing her passion for reading and playing the piano. She graduated from Wahpeton Senior High in 1967, attending NDSCS and graduating from Moorhead State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English, and a minor in Philosophy. She was united in marriage to Thomas Hlavaty on August 28, 1970 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. The couple lived in West Fargo, ND, where Barb commuted to Casselton, ND, where she taught English for 32 years. Throughout her teaching career she also taught summer school at Fargo South. The couple retired and moved to Menahga, MN in 2009.
