Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Geraldine B. Allen, 93, died on Friday, February 1, 2013, in ManorCare Nursing home, Fargo, ND. The daughter of George and Rose (Bauer) Albrecht, Geraldine grew up on a farm near Roseglen, ND. She lived with her grandmother Mertz while attending high school in Garrison, ND, where she graduated. She married Karlyle Burness in 1937. They lived in Ryder, ND, until his death in 1956. She moved to Minot, ND. Geraldine married Greg Allen in 1966 and they lived in Denver, CO. He died in August of 1971. Geraldine moved to Fargo, ND, in 1976. She had lived in the Evergreens, Fargo, since September of 2011.

Geraldine is survived by her children, Carroll (Kay) Burtness, Henderson, NV, Dick (Roxanne) Burtness, Fargo, ND, Roselyn Saunders, Red Feather Lakes, CO, Gaylen (Joanne) Allen, Savage, MN, and Jarilyn (Scott) Gess, Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren: Sherri, Kristi, Jason, Dawn, David, Jay, Joyelle, and Taylor Rose,; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Gerald and William.

Elaine E. Gussiaas, age 86, of Carrington, ND, died Monday, February 4, 2013, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, ND.

Elaine Emma Kuehn was born on November 13, 1926, at home in Wyard Township, Carrington, ND to William and Sophia (Vollmers) Kuehn. She attended eight years of elementary school at a rural Wyard Township school and graduated from Carrington High School in 1944. Her early years of employment were with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator in Carrington. She moved to Minneapolis for a short time working as a business office clerk at the Minneapolis Athletic Club. In 1950, she moved back to Jamestown, ND; again employed by Northwestern Bell as a service representative.
