Wolftree magazine takes root in Fargo
FARGO – The story of Wolftree stemmed from an idea that defined – or rather redefined – the quarterly magazine. A group of twenty-something friends sat around, mulling the idea of starting a magazine that featured the work of area artists they knew. As the idea flew around the room, the talk soon turned to what it would be named. Dustin Snyder, one of the magazine’s co-founders, blurted out “Wolftree!”

Irene June Globstad, 92, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Irene was born on June 2, 1921 in Audubon, MN to Severt and Mabel (Erickson) Balken. She attended rural country school in Audubon. She did domestic work for many years. Irene married Selmer Globstad on September 27, 1942. They lived south of Lake Park on the family farm and raised their family. She worked for Lake Park Public School for many years. Irene enjoyed flowers and belonged to the Lake Park Garden Club. She spent the last of her years in Detroit Lakes. Irene loved coffee and was known in the nursing home as the “Coffee Queen.”

Bertha Lenora Otteson, 98, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Wolverton, MN, died Monday, July 22, 2013, in Eventide Lutheran Home. Bertha was born to Ole and Josephine (Prevost) Otteson on April 22, 1915, the youngest of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Sena Opoien, Olga Stevenson, Annie Ness, Walter Otteson, William Otteson, Winnie Miller, Elizabeth Stockwell, Arnold Otteson and Bert Otteson.

Bertha spent her life just northeast of Wolverton on the farm where she was born, eventually becoming the caregiver for her parents. She and her two youngest brothers became farm operators. She was active in both church and community.
