Denver Vance Helland
Denver Vance Helland, formerly of Kathryn, ND died January 28, 2014, at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City, ND. Denver was born, August 26, 1913, to Henry and Mabel (Vance) Helland in Hill County, Havre, MT. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

He married Mabel Olson on October 12, 1940 in Ft. Ransom, ND. She died May 31, 2000. Denver worked in the Navy shipyard in Bremerton, WA during WWII.

Rosella "Sally" Vigen
Rosella "Sally" Vigen, 76, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, Minnesota. The Funeral Service will be Friday, January 31, 11:00 a.m., at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Sally was born February 21, 1937, near Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Nickoli and Agnes (Halvorson) Wick. She attended rural school, District 80. Sally was united in marriage to Donald W. Vigen on March 5, 1955 in Fergus Falls. The couple lived in Fergus Falls until 1957 when they moved to Wahpeton, ND. Sally worked at Dutchman's Bakery and the National Tea in Wahpeton. She later worked at Imation until her retirement. Donald passed away June 20, 1999, Sally continued to reside in Wahpeton occasionally serving "sample products" at Econofoods and doing volunteer work at St. Francis in Breckenridge.

Donna Mae Olson
Donna Mae Olson, 76, of Big Cormorant Lake, passed away peacefully at home, January 24, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Donna was born on May 22, 1937, in Fairdale, ND, to David & Liela Olson. Upon graduating from Oak Grove High School in Fargo, she completed her undergraduate degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. Donna began teaching elementary school in Glendive, MT. She continued touching the lives of students in Brownton, MN, and concluded her teaching career at Washington Elementary in Fargo, ND.

Earl Schmitz
Earl Schmitz, 87, of Oakes, ND, passed away January 25, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Earl Douglas, son of Peter and Edith (Anderson) Schmitz was born on June 28, 1926 at Crete, North Dakota. He attended Divide #4 Country School, and then started farming. Earl served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, from June 12, 1945 to November 12, 1946. After his discharge he returned to the Oakes area, where he farmed his entire life. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Earl will always be remembered as a very hard worker.
