Fielding questions
Q I am concerned that I have oak wilt spreading in my yard. My smaller oaks start out fine, but by July the leaves curl and turn brown, and it’s moving to other trees. I read an Extension office article that said the only remedy is trenching 5 feet down to separate the roots. Can you help me diagnose and remedy this problem?

Pearl I. Grover
Pearl I. Grover, age 97, of Moorhead, MN, died on Thursday, November 14, 2013, in Eventide Senior Living, Moorhead, MN. Pearl Isabel Boulton was born August 4, 1916, to George and Annie Boulton near Kragnes, MN, where she grew up and attended Oak Mound School. She married Raymond Grover on November 30, 1948 in Moorhead. They enjoyed many summers at Big Cormorant Lake with the neighbors, traveling and many winters in Hawaii. Ray died April 7, 1993. Pearl moved into Moorhead that fall. She entered Eventide Senior Living Community in 2005, where she had most recently resided.

Pearl is survived by her many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; sisters, Margaret and Eleanor; and a brother, George.

Ray Walter Heidtke
Ray Walter Heidtke, 78, of Roseville, MN passed away November 15, 2013. He was born in Fountain, MN, and graduated from Wykoff High School, Wartburg College, and Wartburg Seminary. Ray married Bunice Danneman of Fulda, MN, and together they raised three daughters: Sandra (Rob) Larson of Decorah, IA, Lisa (Jim) Schlotterback, and Sonya (Ron) Huesman, both of Mounds View, MN. He had eight grandchildren – Karlton, Kelsie, and Patrick Larson, Ryan and Laura Schlotterback, Mikayla, Kylie, and Matthew Huesman – of whom he was very proud. As a Lutheran minister, he served several churches in eastern North Dakota, including Fredonia, Fargo, Valley City, and Verona, and several interim pastoral positions.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one nephew. He is survived by his loving family, along with his brother Mervin, sister MaryAnn Heidtke, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wykoff, MN. Memorials preferred to Allina Health Hospice or donor’s favorite charity.
