Robert Cooch
Robert Duane Cooch, 88, passed into our Lord's loving arms December 15, 2012. Born in Lisbon, ND October 25, 1924, he attended school in Courtney and graduated from high school in Wimbledon. He attended NDSU, Purdue University and enlisted in the US Marines. Bob served in the 5th US Marine Division and survived the landing on Iwo Jima and the initial occupation of Japan. In Jamestown, ND he married Faye Jean Brownson on June 17, 1948 at St. Jame's Basilica. They have resided in Fargo 64 years and raised three daughters.
Bob retired from Northwestern Bell with 40 years of service in 1986. After his retirement, Bob and Faye spent many winters in Sarasota enjoying the Florida sunshine. He was a charter member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, Fargo Exchange Club, Knights of Columbus, SAE Fraternity, Sons of the American Revolution and involved in Civic Affairs. Bob was an accomplished bridge player and loved gardening, baseball, hunting, traveling and reading the comic section of the daily newspaper. Time spent with his daughters, grandsons and great-grandsons brought him great joy. His gentle demeanor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
