Gerald "Gerry" or "Mick" W.Mickelson
Gerry died peacefully in his Edina, MN home on February 13 at 90 years of age. The son of Melvin and Tilla Mickelson of rural Shelly MN, Mick was the oldest of four children. He met the love of his life, Peggy Foss, at Halstad High and they lived life hand in hand through 67 years of marriage until her death in 2013. Their marriage served as an example of deep love, respect and partnership to their family and all who knew them. Mick bravely served his country in WWII. He took part in the liberation of Dachau and survived the Battle of Reipertswiller, one of the bloodiest battles of the war. He returned home to work as Service Manager for the Lahr Company and Northern Automotive and retired as Vice President of Northwest Fiberglass. His greatest joy was being a father to his daughter who adored him and Boppa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mick loved his family and friends, Big Band music and Dixieland jazz, lutefisk and Gopher Women’s Basketball. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved Peggy, and precious great granddaughter and birthday buddy, Brady Lindstrom. He is survived by his loving daughter, Diane Brady; two grandchildren and their spouses who each loved and admired him, Christopher Brady (Christy) and Colleen Brady Lindstrom (Matt); three great grandchildren who delighted him in his last years, Oliver, Tilla and Keller Lindstrom; sisters Ione Magnuson and Phyllis Mickelson of Moorhead and Eunice Hams of Hillsboro; and many dear relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 pm at Normandale Lutheran Church, 6100 Normandale Rd, Edina, with reception to follow. Memorials preferred to Normandale Luther

Thelma Houglum
Thelma Houglum, 92, Ulen, MN, formerly Waubun, MN, died Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Thelma Gudrun Otterson was born December 22, 1921, near Syre, MN, to Nicolai and Hilda Otterson. She attended school at Meadowland Country School near Syre, graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1939 and Moorhead State Teachers College in 1941. Following graduation, Thelma taught school at Cheerful Nook Country School near Flom, MN, where she met her husband and life partner, Monroe Houglum. Following their marriage in 1943 they lived a short time in Newport News, VA, where Monroe was stationed with the U.S. Army and Thelma worked at the Point of Embarkation supporting the war effort. In 1946, Thelma and Monroe moved to Waubun where they would live for the next 59 years. During this time Thelma stayed busy raising three sons and a daughter, working with the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, the American Legion Auxiliary and being very active at Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and worked at many activities and projects both for the church and the Ladies Aid.

Carl T. Carlson
Carl T. Carlson, 81, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in Bethany on University in Fargo, with his wife at his side.

Carl, the only child of Camuel and Elisa (Olson) Carlson, was born March 29, 1932, in Minneapolis, MN. The family moved to Souris, ND, where Carl graduated from high school. Carl graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, in 1954. Following his graduation, he served his country in the US Army. After his discharge, he returned to Souris, where he taught school. In the late 1950s, Carl moved to Moorhead, where he taught math in the junior high school.

David G. Klemisch, 53, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND with his family by his side.

David Gerard Klemisch was born in Drayton, ND on November 3, 1960 to Robert and Dolores Klemisch. He grew up in Drayton and graduated from Drayton High School in 1979. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1980. He was stationed in San Diego, CA aboard the USS Dixon and traveled the Pacific Ocean.

Diane G. Lenning
Flandreau - Diane G. Lenning, 71, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at her daughter's home under hospice care. Diane was born September 19, 1942 at Estelline, SD to Ambrose and Grace (Zebell) Warborg. She graduated from Estelline High School and then attended Stewart's School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls. Diane married Sidney Lenning on February 23, 1961 in Arizona. They lived in Estelline and moved to Dilworth, MN in 1969. In 1986 they moved to the Egan/Flandreau area. Diane worked as a cook and janitor at the Egan Public Schools and Royal River Casino for 13 years until she retired. Her husband preceded her in death on February 11, 2010. For the past three years, Diane has lived with her daughter Heide in Missouri. Diane is survived by six daughters, Michelle (Jeff) Swenson, Dilworth, MN, Melissa (Matt) Lacey, Flandreau, Kelly (Tim) Ullom, Flandreau, Korie (Marvin-MSG US Army) Smith, Ft. Leonardwood, MO, Heather (Mike) Ketcham, Flandreau, Heide Lenning, (SFC US Army), Ft. Leonardwood, MO; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Dean (Dona) Warborg, TX, Leroy (Marge) Warborg, Estelline, Darrel (Kathy) Warborg, Brewster, MN, Dan (Barb) Warborg, Egan and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Melette, parents and one brother Larry.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial in St. Francis DeSales Catholic Cemetery, Estel
