Ernest Fadness
Ernest "Ernie" B. Fadness, age 87, a life long resident of Lisbon, ND died at the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
Ernest Burnell Fadness was born on January 18, 1926 in rural Lisbon, North Dakota to Edward and Bertha (Moen) Fadness. Ernie attended school in Aliceton Township in Ransom County, ND and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1944. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Ernie enlisted and served in the Navy during WWII from 1944 til 1946. Ernie attended the North Dakota State School of Science for one year. Ernie married Audrey Hoff on October 14, 1949 and they made their home in Lisbon. Ernie was enlisted in the Army Reserve and called up for active duty again during the Korean War from 1950 through 1951.

Today marks the 151st day with at least 1 inch of snow on the ground this cold season. This is only the fifth time since the daily snow record began in the winter of 1892-93 that Fargo-Moorhead has recorded more than 150 days of snow cover.

African-Americans are much more likely to be killed by firearms than whites are in Minnesota. At the same time, whites are more likely than African-Americans to use guns to kill themselves.

FARGO - From atop one of the massive six-story garbage piles at Fargo’s landfill, dozens of scavenging birds can be seen circling the scraps, and the distinct smell of natural gas fills the nostrils. Paul Hanson, the landfill’s supervisor, stops his pickup on the highest peak overlooking 12th Avenue North and says that on a clear day you can see for miles.
