John Lacher, 80, Fargo, formerly of Wishek, ND, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo.

John was born in Wishek, ND on October 30, 1932. He was one of seven children born to Remigus & Eva Lacher. Following a stint in the armed services during the Korean War, he married Lorraine Larson in 1954. Following her passing in 2002, he lived in Fargo. John was a semi-truck driver for different companies.

Mark A. Foster, 65, of Fargo, ND passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Rosewood on Broadway after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.

Mark was born May 12, 1948 to Ernest and Evangeline (Dufault) Foster in Warroad, MN. At a young age he moved with his family to Hoyt Lakes, MN and graduated from High School there. After graduating from Mesabi Junior College he joined the Army and served overseas in both Vietnam and South Korea. Upon returning he attended University of North Dakota and received a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. After graduating, he married his college sweetheart, Theresa Mozinski, in 1978. They then moved to Fargo and he began work at Johnson Controls.

Anna Gustava Morehart was born May 10, 1926, near Shelly, MN, one of 11 children of Emil and Bertha (Efteland) Swenson. She was baptized and confirmed in Shelly, MN. She attended school and graduated from Climax (MN) High School.

Marvin Theodore Nordbo
Marvin Theodore Nordbo died August 6, 2013 at Rosewood on Broadway.

Marvin was born February 19, 1926 at Hatton, ND to Aslak and Sophia (Midboe) Nordbo. He attended grade school at rural Hatton and graduated from Northwood, ND high school in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 aboard the USS Goshen, USS Dyess and USS Boston. Upon returning, he attended North Dakota Agricultural College, Fargo, graduating with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Education in June 1950. After that he taught vocational agriculture education at Carrington, ND high school and veterans’ agriculture education at Hillsboro, ND. He married Ardelle Hansen in 1952. In 1952 he joined the ND Extension Service of NDSU and served as county agriculture agent at Burke County, Bowbells, ND until 1955, when he returned to NDSU for graduate school; receiving his Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 1957. He was an assistant professor in the Agriculture Economics Department at NDSU, teaching and doing research with the Tennessee Valley Authority. In 1963 he joined the Trust Department at First National Bank Fargo. He received his diploma from National Graduate Trust School, Kellogg School, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois in 1973. He retired as Senior Trust Officer from Wells Fargo Bank-Fargo in 1987. After retiring, he formed MTM Co. Farm Land Management which he ran until 1991. He was a member of Farm Bureau, Northwest Farm Managers, American Legion and Sons of Norway. He enjoyed attending USS Goshen reunions.

John W. “Pete” Markey, age 85, of Fargo, passed away at Rosewood on Broadway on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.

Pete joined the love of his life, June Beverly Gronland, on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, having been married to June for 57 years. They were wed on August 22, 1949 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. John was born to Frank and Ruth (Satter) Markey on November 5, 1927, at Casselton, ND. He grew up in Casselton and attended school there until moving to Fargo with his family where he attended Fargo Central High. Pete enlisted in the Navy and served during World War Two. He was an officer/member of Messiah Lutheran Church for many years, cooked at the Wild Game Feed, the Mother-Daughter Banquets and numerous church events. He served on the Fargo City Commission from 1958 until 1974. He joined Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and worked there for 38 years until retiring. Over the years Pete was a Boy Scout leader for 12 years, a former president of the Communications Workers of America Local 7303, President of the Fargo Blazers Hockey Club, and a member of Teamster Local 116, Fargo American Legion Post 7, Life member Casselton VFW Post 4655, and Telephone Pioneers of America.

Vera Jane (Ode) Hegedus, 82, died May 29, 2013, at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.

Vera was born in Bismarck, the daughter of Herman and Emily (Caudel) Ode. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1948. She married John “Jack” Hegedus in July 1948 and resided in Bismarck. Vera and Jack had three children: Daryl, Bonnie and Greg. Vera worked many years at the First National Bank and at J.C. Penney’s. Besides working, Vera loved her daily walks. Jack and Vera were happily married for 63 years until Jack’s death in 2011. In September 2011, Vera moved to Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo to be close to her daughter Bonnie.

Maxine "Max" Tyler, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully Monday, April 29, 2013 at Rosewood on Broadway, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She was 85 years old.

Maxine Norma was born on March 15, 1928 to Oscar and Anna (Jung) Johnson on the family farm near Osakis, MN. Maxine was 3 when her father died suddenly. Her family then moved to town where she attended school. As a teenager they relocated to Minneapolis where she graduated from Marshall High School in 1946.
