Shirlene Johnson, 71, West Fargo, ND died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at her home.

Shirlene Haner was born July 20, 1942 in Minot, ND to Harold and Anna (Olsen) Haner. She grew up on a farm near Douglas, ND and graduated from high school there as valedictorian. She received her bachelor’s degree from NDSU. Shirlene worked for the USDA in Grand Forks, ND before her marriage to James Johnson on Jan. 30, 1966 in Douglas. They lived in various states before retiring and settling in West Fargo. They lived in Hillsboro, ND, Fargo, ND, Indianapolis, IN, St. Paul, MN and Birmingham, AL. Shirlene had many talents and worked in a variety of fields throughout her life including: research chemist, microbiologist, licensed realtor, tax consultant and bookstore owner.

It was the African Message Drums that announced the birth of Ray Wagner on November 17, 1930 in Old Mutare, Zimbabwe at the mission where Africa University is located. Ray's heart no longer has an earthly beat; his soul was united with God on November 24, 2013 in Fargo, ND. Ray was born the first child of Rush and Dorothy (Mason).

Ray Wagner's life was a beautiful journey of living as a citizen of the world as the son of a Methodist Missionary. Ray grew up in Africa, Bolivia, Iowa, and after his father's death when he was 16, in Australia. He returned to the U.S. when he was drafted for the Korean War, where he served in the Army stationed at Trieste. His love of classical music soon led him to his greatest love, as he married the girl with the beautiful voice, Mavis Dralla, on June 17, 1956. Ray attended Iowa State University where he earned his Master's degree in Sociology.

Myrtle A. Lima
Myrtle A. Helland was born January 3, 1923, on the family farm near Binford, ND, to Hjalmer and Julia (Gilbertson) Helland. When Myrtle was a young girl, the family moved to Hannaford, ND. She worked as a housekeeper for families in Hannaford and Fargo, ND.

Myrtle married Jacob D. Lima on August 8, 1942, in Valley City, ND, and they made their home on his family farm in the Cooperstown area. They moved to Fargo in 1947, where she raised her family. Myrtle managed the lunch counter at Edgewood Golf Course, Fargo, in the 1960s, and later worked at JC Penney in downtown Fargo.
