Margery Reitmeier was born December 13, 1918 in Crookston, MN. She was the daughter of August and Nettie (Bennen) Reitmeier. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school in Crookston. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and playing her guitar.

James A. Halstenson, age 76, of rural Niagara, ND, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

James A. Halstenson was born June 18, 1937 at rural Niagara, the son of Hilman and Mildred Halstenson. He married Marcy Krueger on July 30, 1955. Jim took over the family farm at the age of 14. He also taught music at Langdon, Fordville, and spent most of his career at Unity in Petersburg, ND.

Dale D. Brown
Dale D. Brown, age 59, of Snohomish, WA, formerly of Carrington, ND, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at his home.

Dale D. Brown was born February 15, 1955, the son of Evan and Inez (Nysted) Brown at Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND. He was raised on the family farm east of Carrington and graduated in 1973 from Carrington High School. Following graduation, Dale moved to Missoula, MT, and began working at Champion International Lumber Mill in Bonner, MT, where he was a mill wright and knife sharpener. Working there until 1993, Dale then began working at the lumber mill in Darby, MT, until 1998, when he moved to Everett, WA, and began working at Riverside Lumber in Snohomish, WA. In June 2012, Dale moved back to Carrington and resided there until moving back to Snohomish in December 2013. He was currently working at Riverside Lumber.

Roger Edward Mohrbacher passed away peacefully at age 84 on February 28, 2014, surrounded by his family.

Rog was born to Roger and Inez (Webb) Mohrbacher in Minneapolis, MN, on December 29, 1929. He attended St. Thomas University and received his First Class Engineering license from Brown Institute. He served in the US Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a radio announcer in several cities.

Michael Geller
Michael Geller, age 68, of Scottsdale, AZ, originally of Fargo, ND, passed away March 1, 2014. Preceded in death by his parents, Sam Geller and Toba Marcovitz Geller. Survived by his wife, Esther, of 46 years; siblings, Cary (Inna) Geller, Mark (Mary) Geller; children, Dan (Heidi) Geller, Devora (Barry) Rothman, Dena (Tim) Hegg; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Lovingly called Bumpa by his eight grandchildren, Brett, Andrew, Lucy, Sarah, Jordan, Jacob, Jesse and Haley. Funeral service TUESDAY 1 PM, MINNEAPOLIS JEWISH CEMETERY CHAPEL, 70 1/2 & Penn Ave., Richfield. Memorials are preferred to Sharei Chesed Congregation or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Tim Gebeke, 64, Casselton, ND died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at Sanford Health, Fargo

Timothy Allen Gebeke was born Aug. 23, 1949 at Fargo to Roy and Jennie (Snelson) Gebeke. He grew up on the family farm and was in the first graduating class from Dakota High School in Arthur in 1968. Tim lived in the Arthur and Hunter, ND areas where he worked for area farmers and at the John Deere dealerships in Hunter and Galesburg, ND. He served as Mayor of Hunter for seven years and raised several foster children. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Tim retired in 2008 and moved to Casselton.

Sheryl Ann Brekke, 63, of Fargo, ND died in her home on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

Sheryl was born April 24, 1950 in Fergus Falls, MN to Vernon and Betty (Olson) Brekke. They moved to Fargo in 1951 where she graduated from Fargo South High School in 1968. She went to North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, ND graduating with a degree in nursing. After graduation she pursued her nursing career in Rochester, MN and then at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, HI. After 2 years she moved back to Fargo and also resided in Biloxi, MS and Minot, ND. She then made Fargo her home, to raise her daughter, Alicia, who was born July 16, 1980.

Norma Jean Anderson was born September 3, 1937 to Lee and Della (Nyquist) Taylor in Stafford, Kansas. Strong in her Christian faith, and the assurance of life eternal, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2014.

Norma was a woman of prayer who lived graciously with Multiple Sclerosis for 30 years. The chronic disease took away her ability to walk, but not to live. She lived her life to the fullest. She was known as a prayer warrior, she depended on the Lord for her strength.

Funeral services will be held for LaVonne Apland, age 68 of Moorhead, Minnesota (formerly of New York Mills, MN) on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in New York Mills with Reverend Muriel Hachfeld officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. The pallbearers will be Aaron Hillier, Alex Hillier, Joshua Jorgensen, Alan Kingren, Craig Kingren and Ryan Cloutier.

LaVonne Louise Kingren was born on May 2, 1945 in Morris, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Walter and Alma (Mohrman) Kingren. LaVonne grew up and attended school in Morris, Minnesota. She volunteered as a “Grandmother” at the New York Mills Elementary School and enjoyed going to school each day making a difference to the many children whom she loved dearly. LaVonne was deeply involved at her church, First Congregational United Church of Christ in New York Mills. She enjoyed baking and cooking, which brought happiness to many. LaVonne also loved to play WII bowling at Eventide Fairmont, she was a fantastic bowler and won the WII Bowling Tournament. On February 19, 2014 LaVonne passed away peacefully after a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer surrounded by her loving daughters and the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley along with the care givers of Eventide at the Fairmont. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. We are deeply thankful for the care she received from both Hospice and the Fairmont staff during the pas few month.

Harold L. Newman, 80, Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at his home in Jamestown.

Harold was born August 28, 1933 in Mayville, ND, the son of Albert and Bertha (Gidskemo) Newman. He grew up, attended elementary school and graduated from high school in Mayville. He went to Mayville State College for two years and continued his last two years at Moorhead State University, graduating in 1956. On May 31, 1953 Harold married Mary Harwood in Moorhead.
