Coupon Queen: Come shopping with the Coupon Queen to see how she saves
Q: In one of your recent columns, you featured a letter from a reader who stated that she spent $45.81 and saved $47.36 with coupons. I have read numerous articles over the years where people say they get their order for free or for a very low cost. These articles never show what was bought and the coupons used. I have always said this is smoke and mirrors as there is no detail.

Letter: In constant awe of ND ‘progress’

Letter: The liberal hype is not taking hold
I commend our Legislature on the great job they are doing: not allowing outside interests and fear mongering to influence the decisions they have made.

Letter: Republicans in ND Legislature make a travesty of governance
The critics are wrong about North Dakota Democrats. The North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party is very much aligned with the interests of North Dakota business. More importantly, the Democratic Party and its legislators are standing up for a balance between a vibrant economic and business climate and a family-friendly state.

Family: Uncle tried to save 7 from Kentucky house fire
GRAY, Ky. — As flames engulfed a small house in rural southeastern Kentucky, Gino Cima raced to the scene to try to save his nephew, his nephew's fiancee and the five children inside. The drive in the tiny town of Gray took just minutes, but family members said Sunday that Cima was too late — he reached a side door as the fire raged and pulled out the bodies of the two adults.

I have been a resident of North Dakota all my life. For 60 years, I have seen things that have thrilled me about our state, and at other times things that disgust me. The anti-child measures in the Legislature are examples.

Letter: Cutting oil tax and attack on flood plan bad sausage
In a March 6 Forum column, House Majority Leader Al Carlson, R-Fargo, and Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner, R-Dickinson, compared the first half of the North Dakota legislative session to “watching sausage being made.” We reluctantly agree, but hope the majority will set aside the partisan meat grinder and work with us to maximize our state’s prosperity during the session’s remaining days, because as things stand, some of the actions taken by the majority threaten to churn prime opportunities into mincemeat.

Letter: ‘Grow up!’ too simple for senator
Sen. John Andrist, R-Crosby, N.D., felt stung by The Forum’s assertion that they (the state’s Republicans in the Legislature) were “stingy, mean and tone-deaf” when rejecting a bill to provide milk to North Dakota’s poorer children. My first instinct was to just respond to the senator by saying, “grow up.”

Bender: Puritans out to hang the pagans
When will our North Dakota Legislature catch on? We did not elect them to be our mommies, daddies or ministers. And yes, I do believe in God. I fall to my knees and thank him daily that the Legislature only meets every two years. I wonder, though, why no one has yet been struck by lightning on the House or Senate floor or why locusts and frogs have not yet sprung up in committee rooms.
