Shirley (Rorvig) Danforth, 83, died on February 5th, 2013 in Southern California of a heart attack, She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mervin Danforth, who died in April 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Oscar Rorvig of Binford, North Dakota, Mervin's parents, Florence and Verne Danforth and Mervin's sister, Muriel Danforth.
Shirley was born and raised in Binford, ND. Upon graduating from high school she pursued her nursing degree and met her future husband, Mervin, while in nursing school. She proudly worked as a registered nurse, retiring from Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.

Ruth Orpha Burud was born July 24, 1918, in Black Eagle, MT, to Oscar and Rachel Wenner Burud. Diagnosed with a serious heart condition as an infant, doctors gave her less than a year to live. With her parents and two sisters, Orpha lived on a homestead in Rudyard, MT until shortly before her first birthday when the family traveled to Ulen, MN.

Wallace “Wally” G. Utke, 80, Fargo passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at Essentia Health, Fargo.
Wally was born May 20, 1932 in Enderlin, North Dakota to Walter and Laura (Krueger) Utke. He attended country school near Enderlin before graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1951. He attended the State School of Science in Wahpeton before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952-1956. He attended Hanson Auto School where he served as an instructor and also worked at B.S. Chesley as a heavy duty mechanic. In 1964, Wally began working for the City of Fargo. He worked as a heavy duty mechanic on city equipment before retiring after 28 years in 1992.

Gladys Tilleraas, age 89, of Mahnomen, MN died Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home.
Gladys Lorraine Slette, the daughter of Oscar and Alvina (Goodrich) Slette, was born on June 24, 1923. She graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1941. Gladys attended business school in Fargo and worked positions in Fargo area as well as in Mahnomen. On August 19, 1945 Gladys was united in marriage to Clayton Tilleraas and they made their home in Mahnomen, Minnesota. She worked for Mahnomen County, operated a ceramic shop, and helped at local flower shops for many years. After Clayton's death in 1994, Gladys remained in her home until 2008, when she moved to the Pioneer House in Fargo. She recently returned to Mahnomen to make her home.

LeRoy Eugene was born on June 28, 1918 in Glyndon, MN to Oscar and Minnie (Helseth) Muhle. He grew up and attended school in Glyndon. On November 4, 1940 he married Lorraine Benshoof. Together they made their home in Glyndon and had four girls. In 1943 LeRoy enlisted in the United States Army and served in WWII until 1945. LeRoy worked for 40 years installing windows for Rusco Window Company, retiring at 72 years old.

Doris worked for the Red Owl grocery store, Lake Park Café and did bookkeeping for Casper’s sanitation business. She was a member of the Lake Park Lutheran Quilting Club. She also enjoyed cross stitching and rosemaling crafts. Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and the children in her neighborhood.
