Ardell Skeim
Ardell Skeim, 87, of Moorhead, MN, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Ardell was born February 27, 1925, in Alberta, Canada, to Albert and Mabel (Lund) Lomsdal. Ardell moved to Ulen, MN, when she was 17. On December 1, 1944, Ardell married Arnold Skeim in Ulen. Together they made their home in Moorhead for a few years before moving to Dilworth, MN. Ardell worked at the Super Valu Warehouse in Fargo as well as Freddy’s Lefse Bakery for several years. She loved making lefse and always had it ready at Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Ardell and Arnold moved to their lake home when he retired. She loved spending time at their lake home and did so until later moving to Moorhead, where she had most recently resided. Arnold passed away in September of 1997.
Ardell is survived by her son, Larry of Moorhead; daughter, Darlene of Holland, TX; grandchildren, Dale, Tami, Rene (Charlene), and Dion. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; brother, Doug Lomsdal; sister, Shirley (Joe) Matula; and several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Gert Lomsdal.

Roman "Romie" Weber
Roman Weber, 77, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, 10:00 AM, at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with visitation Wednesday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Vigil, at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements.

June O. Johnson, 91, Fargo, ND died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 at Essentia Health, Fargo.
June Olive Isackson was born Oct. 14, 1921 in Wahpeton, ND to Henning and Borghild (Bakken) Isackson. She attended school in Wahpeton and Nansen Township. June married Rueben O. Johnson on Sept. 15, 1940 in Bethany Lutheran Church rural Abercrombie, ND. They lived in Wahpeton, ND until 1944 when Rueben went into the Army. June and children, Bruce and Judy, lived with her parents on their farm in Nansen Township until he returned home in 1945. June worked with her husband on their farm near Colfax, ND until 1971 when they moved to West Fargo, ND. She worked with Rueben in the insurance business in West Fargo. She taught Sunday school, was ladies aid secretary/treasurer, and was a member of the altar guild and church choir at Galchutt Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Galchutt Homemakers Club. She was presently a member of Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.

Lorraine Spelhaug
Lorraine passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Sanford Health in Fargo at the age of 93.
Lorraine Ruth Theodora Grant was born on May 30, 1919 in Northwood, ND, the daughter of Melvin and Leva (Myhre) Grant. She grew up on the family farm near Kindred, ND and graduated from Kindred High School in 1937. Lorraine continued her education at Moorhead State Teachers College, graduating in 1942. She taught in rural schools for three years, and then in Ellendale and Hebron, ND. Lorraine was united in marriage to Ilert Spelhaug in Gol Lutheran Church near Kindred. They farmed near Walcott, ND until 1954 when they purchased the Grant Farm near Kindred. She held many offices in the women’s organizations of her church and also the congregation of Gol Lutheran. After Gol Lutheran closed, Ilert and Lorraine became members of Kindred Lutheran Church in 2002. In 2004, Ilert and Lorraine moved to Fargo. Ilert passed away in October of 2010, and Lorraine has made her home at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo since.

Romanus Blotsky Jr.
Romanus Blotsky Jr. 96, Steele, ND died on December 12, 2012 at Sheyenne Crossing Care Center, West Fargo, ND. Ray Blotsky was born February 17, 1916 in Raleigh, ND, the son of Romanus Blotsky, Sr. and Bertha (Both) Blotsky. He was baptized on March 13, 1916 in St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Raleigh, ND.
In 1931 Ray joined the CCC, Civil Conservation Corps building dams, sidewalks, and roads in the mountains in Idaho. During the depression he worked for anyone who would give him a job. He signed up for the Army but was deferred as they were needed for farmers. (Soldiers on the Home Front) Ray married Agnes Winters on June 2, 1938 in Bismarck, ND. They farmed south of Raleigh until 1941, and worked on the Spicer Ranch north of Watauga, SD. They also farmed east of Shields, ND before moving outside of Shields where Ray operated a small Skelly Service Station for three years. In 1951 he moved his family to Steele, ND where he operated Ray’s Skelly Station on the corner of Old Highway 10 and US Highway #3. Ray also started the Skelly Oil Bulk Service and later purchased a Soft serve-Ice Cream truck with food and called it “Chicken Delight”. In 1973 his business moved to the north side of Interstate-94 and was called “The Rough-Rider Café Truck Stop” with an Indian Chief painted the on window of the restaurant Ray has always been known as “The Chief”. In 1978 Ray retired from the business.
