Francis "Tex" Gludt
Francis "Tex" Gludt, 87, West Fargo, ND, passed on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Sheyenne Crossings assisted by Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Tex was born on July 29, 1926 in Harvey, ND to George and Marie (Fronk) Gludt. He graduated high school in Harvey and served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He married Phyllis Borg in Stanley ND, 1954. Tex worked for Northwestern Bell in Harvey, Watford City, Williston and Fargo ND. He retired after 40 years as a Safety Supervisor for ND and Eastern MN.

New record for elk shot in Minnesota all but official
GRAND FORKS – The rack of a massive bull elk shot this fall in northwest Minnesota has been scored by a certified measurer for the Boone and Crockett Club, and it’s all but official the trophy will be the highest-scoring elk ever taken by hunting in Minnesota.

Helen Jane Lucke Valgren, 70, formerly of Grand Forks and Orr, ND, passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2013 in the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City, ND.

Helen was born on December 23, 1942 in Grand Forks, the fourth daughter of the late Erwin and Rudella (Dokken) Lucke of Orr, ND. Helen worked at various Grand Forks restaurants and motels.

Everett M. Johnson
Everett M. Johnson, 90, Bismarck, died November 16, 2013 at a Bismarck care center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. A burial will be held in June at the North Dakota Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Everett was born March 6, 1923 to Eddie and Mathilda Johnson. He was raised and schooled in Christine, ND. After graduation, he attended Wahpeton Science for a year and then enlisted in the Army. During WWII in Europe, his unit served at the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Everett graduated from NDSU in 1949 and taught Agricultural classes to farmers in Lakota for five years. While at Lakota, he met his best friend Patricia Schindele. They were married June 1, 1951 and together raised two daughters. He continued to teach until he joined the USDA Soil Conservation Service and retired with 31 years of service in Williston, Garrison, Center, Finley and Carson. In 1997, they moved to Bismarck.

Claude Strege, 79, Wyndmere, ND passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Barney, ND with Rev. Sean Daenzer officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Peace Lutheran Church, Barney. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Claude was born on June 28, 1934 to Otto and Myrtle (Solberg) Strege near Lidgerwood, ND. When he was very young the family moved to a farm near Wyndmere where he attended country school and graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1951. He then enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country for four years. When he returned to Wyndmere he attended NDSCS for one year.

George Trupka
George Trupka, 83, Wahpeton, ND passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was under the care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley through Friday, November 8, 2013. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 12 at 1:30 PM in the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton with Rev. Morris Stephens, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Tuesday's service. A military Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton followed with a light lunch.

George was born on April 27, 1930 to Edward and Pauline (Pecka) Trupka in their home behind Central Elementary School. This was his home until he graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1948. He continued his education at North Dakota State College of Science and many locations throughout the United States. In 1951, he enlisted in the US Air Force, during the Korean Conflict, where he received his education in Instrumentation; he served in the Strategic Air Command on the B-47. George was then stationed in England where he met the love of his life Marie Perez, they were married on August 24, 1954 in London, he never left her side. They moved to Riverside CA where he was honorably discharged in February of 1955.
