The story in The Forum on Dec. 30 caught my eye. One thought is the concept of heroes. Obviously, Fargo Police Officer Shawn Gamradt was a hero. His quick response to get an AED was lifesaving.

Ruth Anderson
Ruth Evelyn Anderson, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend died Sunday, December 23, 2012 in the Mahnomen Health Center Hospital at the age of 96.
Ruth E. Christianson was born March 9, 1916 to Hilda and Idius Christianson in Gully, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Lund Lutheran Church. Ruth's family was blessed with the gift of music and she and her siblings played various instruments and spent many evenings playing and dancing in the music room. Ruth graduated from Gully High School and furthered her education at Bemidji State College from 1934-1935. In 1936, she graduated from Brady & Rogers School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis, MN. Ruth was employed in various salons in Minneapolis, McIntosh and Bagley, MN. Although she didn't always work in a salon setting, she continued to apply her skills as a cosmetologist for her family and friends.

Bernice Johnsen
Bernice T. Johnsen, 89, Kindred passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit of Sanford Health, Fargo.
Bernice was born June 13, 1923 to Samuel and Olga (Olsen) Lunde in Fargo, North Dakota. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School. She went on to attend Interstate Business College. On November 1, 1952 she married Carroll Johnsen at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo. Bernice and Carroll farmed in the Kindred area before retiring and moving to Kindred in 1991.

Dorothy Klosterman, 90, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Mooreton, ND, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, December 27, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Mooreton, ND with Father Peter Anderl as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. There will be a Christian Mother's Rosary said at 10:30 AM the day of the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Mooreton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Dorothy Angeline was born on September 3, 1922 to Albert and Hedwig (Veit) Henkenius near Mooreton, ND in Antelope Township. She attended school at the Mooreton Parochial School and Antelope Consolidated School and graduated from Wahpeton High School. She went on to receive her teacher's certificate from Valley City State Teacher's College. Dorothy taught school for seven years and served as substitute for fifteen years.
