Joe Peltier passed away on January, 12th, 2014 at Bethany on 42nd.

Joseph Charles Peltier was born on February 13th, 1929 to Joseph C. Peltier and Marjorie L (Burgum) Peltier. He graduated from Arthur High School in 1947 where the Arthur Knights were State Class C Basketball champs. Joe was named an All State guard.

Mr. Balkan worked as a Civil Engineer for U.S Soil Conservation Service and retired in 1976 to Lake Maud, Minnesota and to South Padre Island, Texas and he settled in Mission, Texas.

Jerome "Jerry" Andrew Kochmann, 89, passed away January 3, 2014, at the Mahnomen Health Center. He was born June 24, 1924, near Beaulieu, MN, to Julius and Veronica (Athmann) Kochmann.

Jerry grew up on the family farm with three brothers and three sisters. He attended North Elementary School and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1942. After high school, he remained at home continuing to farm with his father and worked various odd jobs.

Eileen earned a Social Work degree from Valparaiso University and her MSW from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Her career spanned various casework positions in the Fargo, ND area, teaching part time in the Social Work Department of Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, facilitating process therapy groups for Anne Wilson Schaef, A Course in Miracles group sessions, bereavement groups, and assisting with local hospice organizations.

Regina Florence Bornstedt Smith
Regina Florence Bornstedt Smith, age 87, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 20, 2013.

Regina was born May 3, 1926, to Alfred and Mary Bornstedt of New York City. She grew up in the Bronx and was a graduate of Mount St. Ursula Academy and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She married the love of her life, James Brendan Smith, M.D., on June 14, 1947, in New York City, and they immediately moved to south California, where he completed his assignment in the United States Navy and his medical residency. Together, they raised six children: four boys and two girls. In 1967, they gave up a hectic city life in California for a small town in Powers Lake, ND, where they continued to raise their family.
