Donald William Green
Donald William Green, 81, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed peacefully Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Don was born on October 26, 1932, the son of Carl and Marion (Fanning) Green in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He was raised in Thief River Falls and graduated from high school in 1950. Don enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1951. He served at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland and Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, until receiving an honorable discharge in 1953. Don married the love of his life, Phyllis Jean Carlson on November 29, 1952, in Thief River Falls. He went on to attend Concordia College, earning a double major in Business and Psychology in 1958. Don also played football for Jake Christiansen while attending Concordia. He began his career at Small Business Administration in Fargo. A few years later, Don joined Merchants National Bank, also known as First Bank and later US Bank. In 1983 he served as bank president at First Bank in Bismarck until retiring in 1988. Don in 1988 joined Community First National Bank in Fargo as executive vice president until retiring again in 1993. During his career in banking he granted loans to many small businesses and major manufactures that remain cornerstones in the region.

Lois Carol Riedman
Lois Carol Riedman, 85, passed away peacefully, February 20, 2014, in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her family. Lois was born July 30, 1928 in Marion, ND to Leonard and Elvira (Anderson) Olson and was raised on the family farm north of Litchville, ND. She attended grade school at Plainview, a one-room school situated on the Riedman land. She graduated from Litchville High School in 1947 and went on to attend the New York Hairstyling Academy in Fargo. After graduating, she worked as a hair stylist in Valley City. On January 29, 1956, Lois married Ralph Riedman, her long-time neighbor, and they made their home on the Riedman family farm. Ralph and Lois were parents to four children, Cathy, Connie, Dan, and Greg. Lois loved her role as a farm wife and partnered with Ralph as they raised their children to value the land and country living. Within a 2-mile radius of the farm, they lived amidst a whole community of family who shared day-to-day life and special occasions. Ralph passed away on February 18, 1976 at the age of 54. Lois continued to live on the farm until moving to Valley City in the fall of 1978.

Lois was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Valley City, serving in many ways through her Circle and involvement with WELCA. She also enjoyed being a member of the Skandia Homemakers Club and the opportunity to get together with her neighbors once a month.

Harold L. Newman
Harold L. Newman, 80, Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at his home in Jamestown.

Harold was born August 28, 1933 in Mayville, ND, the son of Albert and Bertha (Gidskemo) Newman. He grew up, attended elementary school and graduated from high school in Mayville. He went to Mayville State College for two years and continued his last two years at Moorhead State University, graduating in 1956. On May 31, 1953 Harold married Mary Harwood in Moorhead.
