Carol M. Hanley
Formerly of Fargo, passed away peacefully, August 19, 2013, at her home in Casa Grande, AZ. Carol was born April 11, 1930 to Earl and Gladys (Blood) Norton in Ventura, CA. After her fathers sudden death in 1935, Carol, her mother and sisters boarded a train and accompanied her father to his final resting place, Stevens Point, WI; hometown of her parents, where her grandfather was mayor. After graduation, Carol ventured to Minneapolis, worked at the telephone company and met her future husband, Michael "Mike" E. Hanley Jr. They were wed April 22, 1950, at Fort Snelling, starting life together in MN; then to WI, and in 1966, they moved their family to Fargo, ND. Raising their 2 children, Carol served as a den mother, Campfire leader and volunteered at the V.A. Hospital. Carol opened a Manpower franchise out of her home, moved it downtown and was an active member with the SBA and the Chamber of Commerce. In 1988, Carol and Mike retired, traveled extensively and truly enjoyed caravanning with friends to rallies all over in their RV, until retiring it in 2002. Carol enjoyed many summers at the family lake home, duplicate bridge and long talks over coffee with her husband of 54 yrs, Mike, who preceded her in death in 2004. Carol is survived by her son, Thomas (Ginnie) Kansas City, MO; daughter, Maureen, Fargo; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Laura, Janna and Jacob; 3 great-grandchildren; eldest sister, Jeanne Pavlik, Stevens Point, WI; and 7 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike and her sister Vera and nephew, Alan Pavlik. A memorial was held in Decem

Deann “Dee” R. (McCormick) Kirkpatrick, 54, Fargo, ND passed away February 17, 2014 peacefully in her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Bismarck, at 11:30 a.m., with Msgr. Thomas Richter officiating. Dolly P. Fisk
Dolly P. Fisk, 87, of Casselton, ND, passed away February 13, at Elim Care Center in Fargo, ND. She was born April 18, 1926, in Page, ND, to Victor and Lutie (Wood) Warrey. She graduated from Page High School and resided in Berkeley, CA, during part of WWII where she worked at Borden’s Cafe. When back in ND, she worked as a telephone operator in Wahpeton, ND, and later at the Page Drug Store. She was united in marriage to Harold D. Fisk on Oct. 14, 1953. They lived in Ayr, ND, for 52 years.

She was a longtime member of the Ayr Presbyterian Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid and was the substitute organist. She had many longtime friends in her Birthday Club as well. She also was the substitute postal clerk at the Ayr Post Office.

Esther Yerkes Cook, 88, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on Tuesday February 11, 2014.

She was born in Philadelphia on May 18, 1925 to the late Florence and Simeon Yerkes, and was the wife of the late James Cook. She graduated from Girls' High School in Philadelphia and West Chester State Teachers' College with a degree in Physical Education. Esther taught and coached in the Philadelphia area before moving to Fargo in 1971. Esther coached volleyball and basketball at Concordia College and later managed the pool and tennis programs at the Fargo Country Club. She was most recently employed at Courts Plus until 2009, and was a member of the Fargo Country Club and First Presbyterian Church.

Beverly Ann Boen, the daughter of Melvin and Edith (Schustrum) Boen, was born March 8, 1926, in Fergus Falls, MN. She attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating in the Class of 1944. While in school, she played the clarinet. After high school she worked for Otter Tail Power Company and then at the Otter Tail County Courthouse. In 1947, she began working for the Fargo VA Hospital.

Jeanette Davis, age 89, formerly of Kindred, ND, passed away on February 9, 2014 at Elim Care Center, Fargo.

Jeanette Marie (Scheffler) Davis was born May 5, 1924 to Ernst and Nettie (Heeren) Scheffler at their family farm in rural Barnesville, MN. She was the youngest of eight children, and had three brothers and four sisters. At the age of 16, Jeanette moved away from home to Pelican Rapids, MN where she worked in a coffee shop and candy store, making hand-dipped chocolates. While living in Pelican Rapids, she met her future husband, Dellen Davis. At the age of 17, she moved to Graham, WA and worked in the laundry at Fort Lewis. She married Dellen at the age of 18 in Tacoma, WA and worked at Boeing as a riveter while her husband served overseas in World War II. During this time, Jeanette also moved to San Francisco and worked as a welder at Western Pipe and Steel.
