Q I try to grow tomatoes with little success. I buy quality plants from local greenhouses with 60-65 day fruiting. All tomatoes grow to about 2 feet tall, set flowers and produce about four fruits, which then stop growing when the size of golf balls. Wildflowers grow perfectly in the same area. My garden is surrounded by trees from adjoining lots on two sides.

Marjorie C. Bergquist, 90, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died peacefully August 15, 2013 at the Madison-Ecumen Campus in Detroit Lakes.

Funeral Services for Marjorie will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 1PM in Augustana Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 22 at Augustana Lutheran Church from 5PM until 8PM with a 7PM Prayer Service. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

Miriam I. Ugland, 99, Grand Forks, passed away July 30, 2013 at Altru Hospital. She was born May 25, 1914 to Marvin and Mae (Waterhouse) Pardee in Clinton, Michigan. She graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio and went on to teach music in Lewistown, Montana where she met her husband O. Lewis Ugland. She was an active gardener and knitter and active in many organizations including GF County Historical Society Craft Group, GF Symphony Orchestra, PEO Chapter AI, GF Curling Club, and United Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister. She is survived by a son Marvin (Galyn) Ugland, Fargo, 2 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
