Marian Whitehead was born August 22, 1924 near Conway, ND. ,the daughter of Henry & Mary Etta (Fisher) Whitehead. In 1943 she graduated from Walsh County Ag School in Park River, ND. She then attended Union Commercial College in Grand Forks, ND. After graduating, she worked for Honeywell in Minneapolis, MN. She returned to Larimore and was office manager for C & R Welding in Larimore until retirement in 1996 when the business was sold.

Vergil was born on July 2, 1927, in Lansford, ND, the son of John and Susan (Straub) Dufner. He was raised on the family farm in Renville County and attended country school at Muskego #1. Vergil’s mother passed away when he was a teenager. He worked in the Ruthville area as a young man.

Henry Donald "Don" Stockman of Fargo, passed away on January 14, 2014, at home under the care of Hospice.

Don was born in Grenora, ND on September 28, 1931 to Francis and Lorraine (McLean) Stockman. He grew up in Williston, ND, graduating with the class of 1949. After attending one year of college in Colorado, he joined the US Marine Corps, serving in Korea. While in the Corps, he met and married the former Sonya Lee Raike. They returned to North Dakota in January of 1954 where he resumed his education at University of North Dakota.

Elizabeth Isabel Barnes was born on April 10, 1923 to Maude (Hanson) and Elmer Barnes in Burlington, IA. She was the fourth of five children. She was baptized on October 21, 1923 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. Betty graduated from Burlington High School in 1941 and received her Registered Nurse degree from the Burlington Hospital School for Nurses in 1944.

Howard Black
Howard Black, 85, finally got his wish to “go home” surrounded by his family at his north Fargo home Thursday, January 9th 2014.

Howard Earl Black was born June 24th, 1928 to Clifford and Lotty (Bjugstad) Black in the village of Venlo, Ransom County, North Dakota. He went to rural one-room elementary schools, and earned $2 a month for his family by carrying a bucket of water to the school daily, occasionally arriving with the water frozen over. Eventually the family moved to Anselm, and Howard went to high school in Sheldon, ND, where he played basketball, football and baseball for the Sheldon Shadows. He graduated in 1946, and was the valedictorian of his class.

Joseph Robinson
Joseph Robinson passed away on December 24, 2013, at Renown South Meadows Hospital, Reno, NV, after a short illness. He was born in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, to Lela and Wister Robinson on December 11, 1933. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary Kathleen (Kathy Kelly), brother Robert (Willie Ann), sister Helen Curry, son Rodney (Betty), four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.

Joe proudly served 11 years in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. After working 35 years with United Airlines as an aircraft mechanic, he and Kathy retired and moved to Reno in 1996. He was active in Reno UAL Retirees group, enjoyed travels, and, especially, loved HIS ‘49ers and Giants.

Bea Kartenson, 86, passed away on January 5th, 2014, at her home in Fargo, North Dakota. Beatrice Elaine Jones was born on July 22nd, 1927 to Frank and Grace (Gold) Jones at St. John's Hospital in Fargo, and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1945.

Bea met Gordon Kartenson in the fall of 1945 when they were both attending NDAC (NDSU). She later worked in the radiology Department of St. John's and St. Luke's hospitals. On October 14th, 1950, Bea and Gordon were married at Plymouth Congregational Church in Fargo and made their home in North Fargo where they raised their family.
