Marlys Anderson, 90, Fargo, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at Edgewood Vista.

Marlys Ardell Braaten was born to Gina (Wold) and Andrew Braaten on January 6, 1924 in Wahpeton, ND. She attended Homestead Township #1 school for eight years and then attended school in Wyndmere, ND. She graduated at the top of her class in 1942. Marlys graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead with a B.A. in Business Education, English and Economics in 1946. The day after she graduated she started teaching Business Education in Princeton High School, Minnesota. The first day of teaching she met Edward Anderson from Minneapolis, her future husband, who was also on the staff at Princeton.

Velma Roena Kinzler, 85 of Lidgerwood, ND, was joyfully escorted home by the angels on Monday, January 6, 2014, at Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood, with burial in the spring at Pleasantview Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Visitation will be Thursday, January 9, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Pastor Mike Ward of the United Methodist Church will conduct the funeral and the prayer service. Organist will be Donna Miller with special music by Curt Brownlee.

Velma was born December 29, 1928, at Christopher, IL, the daughter of P. Wood and Ruth (Duckworth) Johnson. Early years were on the family farm. The family later moved to Christopher, IL, where she attended and graduated from school. On July 19, 1951, she was united in marriage to Francis Kinzler at the Christopher Methodist Church. Velma and Francis moved every one to five years with the first 2 years in Pennsylvania and the following 61 years in North Dakota. With her husband Francis as a minister in the Methodist Church (later the United Methodist Church), Velma was very active in the church, as a member of WSCS, then later of UMW. She attended many Bible studies over the years.
