Mission style, often called “Arts and Crafts,” was first popular in the early 1900s. Heavy wooden Mission furniture made of dark finished oak was introduced by Gustav Stickley. It was soon copied by many other firms.
Roseville Pottery was founded in Roseville, Ohio, in 1890. A second Roseville plant opened in nearby Zanesville in 1898.

High-society Victorians had a formal way to meet new friends. No playground visits, no social media.

The first U.S. Surgeon General warning on tobacco products was required in 1964.
Tobacco was labeled as bad for your health. Americans were soon using fewer tobacco products, such as cigarettes, pipe tobacco, snuff, chewing tobacco and cigars.

In the early 19th century, the turkey was a wild one, probably killed by a member of the community. If a time machine could bring someone from that era to our Thanksgiving dinner today, there would be very little inside or outside the house that has not changed.
