It is a perfect summer evening. I am sitting in the old red barn at Trollwood Park in north Fargo. Summer 1995. John Marks and Vick Chepulis, co-founders of Trollwood Performing Art School, are at the front of the room.
Bill Marcil Jr. found a small box left behind when he recently moved into the publisher’s office at The Forum.
Inside, among the few items left by his father, who had occupied the office for 41 years before retiring, was a letter written in 1917.

William C. Marcil, whose career as The Forum’s publisher has spanned nearly 41 years, eight presidential administrations and countless major news stories, will step down on Dec. 1 and hand the reins to his son, Bill Marcil Jr.
