Ahlin: Egyptian guide reveals face of inevitable in ancient nation
‘It’s funny,” our Egyptian guide says when she tells us that Sally is her given name. “Nobody can believe it.”March 14, 2010
Ahlin: A magical, inspirational visit from the extraordinary Midori
Reading violinist Midori’s press clippings for a period of weeks is to read newspapers around the world.

Ahlin: Wilson’s war in the context of Greg Mortenson’s work
Based on a book of the same name by “60 Minutes” producer George Crile, the 2007 movie “Charlie Wilson’s War” tells the story of a Texas politician who became a champion of Afghan freedom fighters during the 1980s after the Soviets invaded and tried to dominate Afghanistan.

Ahlin: So what happens if school recess comes before lunch?
The age spread between our three children is great enough that when a paraprofessional at our children’s elementary school celebrated her 50th birthday, I was pretty sure I was the only parent in the school who also had been around to celebrate her 40th.

Columnist needs to chill a bit
It is hard to know where to begin to respond to Jane Ahlin’s commentary on Jan. 31. She is obviously attempting to discredit everything about the Super Bowl ad featuring Tim Tebow and his mother, Pam.

Day is coming when the truth will triumph
Kudos to The Forum and columnist Jane Ahlin (Jan. 31) for conveying to us precisely the No. 1 reason why the pro-life movement is gaining ground across America, namely, the complete lack of substance behind the ideals of left-wing liberalism.

Ahlin is wrong about pro-lifers
In her Jan. 31 column, Jane Ahlin states: “Folks who want to end all abortion avoid the complexities of problem pregnancies and instead, vacillate between threats/bullying and happy talk, while pushing into every facet of American life.”

What better day for family issue?
I take issue with Jane Ahlin’s column (Jan. 31) titled: “Coming soon to a Super Bowl game near you: abortion issue.” She criticizes the decision of “the CBS mucky mucks” to allow a pro-life commercial sponsored by Focus on the Family.

Abortion is about the culture of life
In response to Jane Ahlin’s commentary on Jan. 31:
I submit to you that the issue of abortion is a cultural issue and not a political one.

Ahlin: Coming soon to a Super Bowl game near you: abortion issue
Discussing the anti-abortion ad scheduled to run during the Super Bowl, a CBS sportswriter named Gregg Doyel put it this way, “If you’re a sports fan, and I am …. (i)t’s not a day to discuss abortion. For (abortion), against it, I don’t care what you are. On Super Sunday, I don’t care what I am. Feb. 7 is simply not the day to have that discussion.”

Ahlin disregards educated people
I just read Jane Ahlin’s Jan. 24 column titled “This is what free-floating anger and charisma get us.”
By Tim J. Gefroh , January 28, 2010
Ahlin: This is what free-floating anger and charisma get us
Of all the dust-ups on the Scott Brown victory in the Massachusetts Senate race, Patt Morrison of the Los Angeles Times put forth the best parallel for the state of the American electorate right now.

Ahlin: ‘What are you running … an airline or a whorehouse?’
Never heard of “consciousness raising”? Chances are your age is under 45. Older Americans remember the era of the late ’60s and early ’70s when the term “consciousness raising” was a buzzword for a changing society – particularly for women.

Ahlin: After 9/11, Americans expect more than illusion of security
In discussing the Northwest Airlines Christmas flight with its suicide bomber wannabe (from Nigeria, by way of Amsterdam), I remarked that outlawing bathroom visits and keeping blankets from cold passengers, not to mention forcing all passengers – including 10-year-olds reading Harry Potter – to put away their books during the last hour of flights to the U.S. weren’t measures that were going to make anybody safer, to which, one of my compatriots replied, “What would you have them do?”
By Jane Ahlin , January 03, 2010
Ahlin: Even for us empty nesters, quiet Christmas unsettling
It’s been quiet at our house: not much happening on the holiday front. Oh, Christmas sheet music is piled on top of the piano, the tree is up and the stockings are hung.

Abortion Is Killing ?
Martin Wishnatsky and Jane Ahlin debate. Abortion is the killing of an unborn child. And since they do it for profit and intentionally, should they be convicted of murder ? The problem is not the language, but the activity performed. The abortion industry and its supporters wish to preserve their ri
