Nelson: ‘No’ voters rebuff idolaters
A salute to the narrow majority of Moorhead voters is now appropriate, for not being stampeded by the monomaniacal education crowd into supporting the new operating levy.

Nelson 'Modcoms' are without principle
Most Americans are bored to tears by politics. Perhaps

Nelson: Our love of war triumphs
A month ago nearly 700 North Dakotan National Guardsmen left for duty in Kosovo. It is our state’s largest call-up since the Korean War. Nelson: Sonia Sotomayor just another brick in the wall
Sonia Sotomayor is a lock to be the next U.S. Supreme Court justice, barring catastrophe. Nelson: Torture debases nation
We have to credit David Broder, courtier to the powerful, for being so upfront with his sycophancy. He applauds President Barack Obama for releasing four Bush administration torture memos. These documents make it clear that we tortured prisoners gathered up in the early days of the “war against terror,” including hundreds of waterboardings.

Heaviest guilt falls on Israel
We will wield disproportionate power against every village from which shots are fired on Israel, and cause immense damage and destruction … This is a plan that has already been authorized. – Israeli Maj. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, October 2008
