UND nickname: Spokesman says petition drive ‘going to be close’ 
GRAND FORKS – With just two weeks to go before the Feb. 7 filing deadline, the petition drive to put the Fighting Sioux nickname issue to a statewide vote in June has about a 50 percent chance of succeeding, a spokesman said Thursday.

Anti-Sioux nickname student group encouraged
GRAND FORKS – American Indian students at the University of North Dakota who have sued the university, the state and top state officials in federal court over the Fighting Sioux nickname have told the court they are encouraged by steps taken to retire the name, but those developments “in no way undermine (their) request for damages based on the defendants’ past conduct.”
