That’s how much Moorhead spent per resident last year to pay for lobbyists to woo Minnesota legislators, according to an analysis of the state auditor’s most recent report on local governments’ lobbying expenditures.
Local leaders meet with corps officials
A top U.S. Army Corps of Engineers official met with local leaders behind closed doors on Monday to discuss the latest on the proposed Fargo-Moorhead Red River diversion.
A Moorhead ordinance prevents any one person from serving for too long in city-appointed positions. But it is another law that has kept longtime Moorhead Public Service Commission President Ken Norman at his post much longer than normally allowed.
I note in a Forum article that Moorhead mayoral challenger Travis Reimche says, “There are always places budgets can be streamlined,” but that he’s not prepared to say where until after he’s elected and has a chance to learn the ins and outs of city finances.
For his efforts in revitalizing his city’s downtown, as well as the many hours he put into the flood fight of 2009, Moorhead Mayor Mark Voxland has received the highest award the League of Minnesota Cities grants elected officials.
