Game plan for students who suffer concussions needs to include academics
MOORHEAD - It’s been three weeks since Taylor Hagness was diagnosed with a concussion, and she’s just now getting back into the swing of things when it comes to school work.
The Moorhead High School freshman was smacked in the noggin by a ball while playing indoor soccer the weekend before Thanksgiving.
“It actually didn’t seem that bad,” she said.
In fact, she finished the game.

Moorhead to face Eagan at state boys hockey
MOORHEAD – The Moorhead boys hockey team will face No. 3 seed Eagan in the first round of the Minnesota Class 2A state boys hockey tournament. The bracket was announced Saturday.
Moorhead’s quarterfinal will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Spuds defeated Brainerd for the Section 8 title on Thursday in Bemidji.

Fargo North, West Fargo share state swimming title in first-ever championship split
MANDAN, N.D. – Four teams, four points, one unbelievable meet.
Entering the final event of the North Dakota boys state swimming meet on Saturday, Fargo North, West Fargo, Minot and Bismarck Century all still had a chance to win the championship.

AAU play gels teammates
CANDO, N.D. – Basketball can be a humbling experience for Daniel Grande and Jake Hagler.
The two are dominant players on the North Star team that brings an undefeated record to the North Dakota Class B boys high school basketball tournament, which begins Thursday at the Alerus Center. in Grand Forks. Both were starters on last season’s undefeated state championship team.
But the juniors also play together on Dakota Pride, an AAU amateur basketball team that competes in tournaments in the Midwest in the spring and summer. They’re dominant players on the high school level; not so in AAU ball.
