Fargo - Marcus Williams was better known in high school as a basketball player who also was a receiver on the football team. He was a guard on an undefeated Minnesota state championship team at Hopkins that could have beaten most prep teams in the country.
Fargo - As long as the wind is blowing from the north, air traffic into Hector International Airport takes a southerly approach into the runway, giving opposing college football teams a good view of the Fargodome.
Fargo - The Big Mountain had the end zone in mind when North Dakota State called a hook-and-ladder play in the first half Saturday afternoon. Nothing would have made Senior Day more mesmerizing than to see 6-foot-6, 314-pound left tackle Billy Turner score a touchdown.
Fargo - Nobody can express the exact reasons why, but for some reason, the fall football camp at North Dakota State in 2010 was different. The atmosphere, the chemistry, the team dynamic – all just a little bit different.
Youngstown, Ohio - Ron Jaworski got his start on these hallowed eastern Ohio grounds, slinging his Division II right arm into football history. He got a nickname for his efforts, too: the Polish Rifle.
Fargo - Roger Kish won 117 wrestling matches while competing for the University of Minnesota in a career that included a Big Ten Conference title and an NCAA Division I runner-up finish. He was a team captain and one of those leaders that every program needs.
Terre Haute, Ind. - There were 67 seconds left in the halftime intermission when the football players from Indiana State emerged from the locker room. There were folks wondering if they were going to come out at all.
It’s been six years since Reggie Moore left his position as an assistant football coach at North Dakota State. He was a well-respected wide receivers coach who opened a recruiting pipeline to Texas.
Fargo - North Dakota State defeated Missouri State 95-0 Saturday afternoon, holding the Bears to minus-75 yards rushing and 10 total yards. Quarterback Brock Jensen was 29 of 30 passing for 657 yards and six touchdowns in another ho-hum performance.
Fargo - The day started with rain, wind and cold – not exactly a postcard kind of day for the thousands of professional tailgaters before every North Dakota State football game. So they had to improvise.
Fargo - Broadway and a few adjoining streets were blocked off Thursday as the crew from ESPN constructed a television set that will go down as an “American Bandstand” moment in North Dakota State football history. Now I know what it must have been like when the Beatles played Shea Stadium.
Fargo - The Taylor Swift concert and all those screaming kids that blew up the eardrums of parents at the Fargodome on Friday night continued Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. No word yet if she was wearing a gold North Dakota State jersey with the No. 16 on it.
