Well, at least we don’t have to explain that Oakland University is in Michigan, not California, anymore. That’s about the lone positive coming out of the Grizzlies’ predictable move to the Horizon League this week.
Fargo - The 2010 season was something special for the Auburn Tigers, who went undefeated behind Heisman Trophy quarterback Cam Newton. When it came to football in the state of Alabama, the Crimson Tide had to take a back seat.
Fargo - Maybe the Western Athletic Conference was using old stationary when it was in communication with the Missouri-Kansas City athletic department in the last several months. Maybe at the top of the letterhead were Boise State, TCU, Tulsa, Hawaii, SMU, Rice, Fresno State, UTEP and San Jose State.
FARGO - The Forum’s annual year-end analysis of the North Dakota State football team in 2009 pointed to seven plays that made a difference in the season. True, the 3-8 record was littered with close plays that, if they had gone the other way, may have resulted in a few more wins.
Fargo - The North Dakota State men’s basketball players were on a bus from Washington, D.C., to Baltimore last Friday night when they rigged a radio system that would make an engineering graduate student envious. Without access to ESPN2 to watch the NDSU and Georgia Southern semifinal football game, it was the next best thing.
Fargo - Well, all those Division I Football Championship Subdivision title tickets that were bought in advance are good to go, cowboy. This time, the suburbs of Frisco and Plano, Texas, will probably be better prepared to handle one massive green and yellow party.
FARGO - Instead of a Saturday afternoon showdown, it’s Friday night lights for the North Dakota State football team. It’s good for national exposure, but not so good for some fans and graduating seniors.
