It was just a week ago when Ben Woodside was getting ready to play in the NCAA basketball tournament, one of the biggest sporting events in the world. On Tuesday, he was sandbagging like thousands of others.
There are game days that make history. Today is such a day.
The North Dakota State University Bison basketball team takes on the Kansas University Jayhawks this morning at the Metrodome in Minneapolis in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional tournament. It’s a day of firsts for the Bison:

A special section inserted into the paper will include pages of commentary and analysis on NDSU’s upcoming NCAA tournament matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks. Check it out Thursday.
It was five years ago when former head coach Tim Miles brought Lucas Moormann, Ben Woodside, Brett Winkelman and Mike Nelson to North Dakota State. On Tuesday night, at a little before 9 p.m., CST, he was jumping around much like the Bison players were at the Sioux Falls Arena.
Only Miles was in Las Vegas.
