Another fast-moving storm system is expected to move across central North Dakota and into west-central Minnesota today and Friday, possibly bringing 6 or more inches of snow, the National Weather Service announced Wednesday.
As blizzards go, Sunday’s was a whopper.
But here, where blizzards are the folklore and in many ways the scourge of the Great Plains, Daryl Ritchison says Sunday’s storm doesn’t even rank in the top 10 blizzards of the past 130 years.

As wind and snow blasted the Red River Valley Sunday the Minnesota National Guard in Moorhead was standing by to aid with any emergencies, according to Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation issued a travel alert Wednesday morning for all highways in the state, advising drivers to be cautious because of blowing and drifting snow expected to create poor visibility throughout the day.
