Letter: Democrats not party of life
Just wanted to say that Anna Higgins’ opinion piece in the April 28 Forum makes a lot more sense than former Fargo Mayor Jon Lindgren and his congratulations to Lloyd Omdahl.

I’m writing to express a huge thank-you to the wonderful people at Hornbacher’s for their work in support of The Village’s Big Brothers Big Sisters program over the past several months.

Letter: Keep holding on to ’50s values
President Barack Obama refers uncomplimentarily to North Dakota’s abortion laws as better suited to the ’50s than ... whatever. In the ’50s, most households were supported by one income, people expected to provide for themselves and do without that for which they could not pay.

Letter: It’s time to clean up our communities
We have avoided a major flood, winter is finally over (I hope), spring is on the way, and we have a huge mess. There is litter everywhere.

Letter: Priorities seem way out of whack
Let’s see if I have this right: Janet Napolitano of Homeland Security wants to charge a fee (amount not yet determined) to our visitors from Canada when they come here to spend money and greatly boost our economy.

Forum editorial: Late, but not too late for farmers
It’s late, but not too late. That’s pretty much the consensus among farmers of the Red River Valley, whose machines are out this week preparing the ground and seeding crops. It is a late start, but it seems much later because last year at this time most crops had been seeded.

Letter: North Dakota lawmakers gut good oil well setback measure
Just because a legislator says it doesn’t make it so. Shortly after the North Dakota House passed a very weak setback bill, HB 1348, Rep. Todd Porter, R-Mandan, said in a KX News story, “I believe it’s not only landmark but it’s going to be the benchmark for other states as they move forward with oil exploration and production.”
