I always find my blog post ideas in everyday conversations. This one came while I was at a swim meet on Saturday. I was talking to another mom and we started talking about what our kids wanted for Christmas, and when I said out loud what I was getting them, it didn’t sound like much. And then I started thinking I better go and buy them more “stuff.”
Too often I am so caught up in the small everyday things in life that I forget about the big things.
Have you ever heard or seen that science experiment where they have sand, pea gravel, pebbles and larger rocks, and they ask you to put them all in one container and make them fit?
So often when I work with clients, they are terrified to throw* (see footnote) anything of their child’s away. I am not sure where this fear comes from, but parents everywhere, I give you permission to start throwing your kids’ stuff away.
