Donations will keep local food pantries stocked for six to seven months
Area students saw their efforts to feed the hungry come to fruition Tuesday on the Fargodome floor, as the annual Fill the Dome event came to a celebratory end.
In an effort to help people clear some overdue fines, encourage library cardholders to sign up for e-mail courtesy notices and help feed the hungry, the Fargo Public Library is holding a weeklong Holiday Amnesty “Food for Fines” event Nov. 29 through Dec. 5.
Kim Jore has tapped a good idea. Knowing how popular bars are with their clientele, the Moorhead artist started painting scenes from area hot spots, then selling the works to raise money for the Great Plains Food Bank.
This year’s student-led Fill The Dome drive aims to collect 110 tons of food and $110,000 to fill the area’s food pantries, organizers said Tuesday during the campaign’s kick-off at Fargo’s Great Plains Food Bank.
Members of the Fargo North High School Key Club will be at Madison Elementary School in Fargo at 4 p.m. today to help load 100 backpacks with non-perishable food items as part of Lutheran Social Services’ BackPack Program.
