North Dakota’s national profile was raised this week when the state’s commissioner of agriculture won the presidency of the National Farmers Union, one of the most influential agricultural organizations in the country. Roger Johnson will leave the state post he’s held since 1997 and assume his new role at NFU headquarters in Washington, D.C., no later than the end of the month.
Three Pride of Dakota companies – Mable’s Taste of Home, Fargo; North Prairie Signature, Leeds; and Special Essentials, Fargo – will be showing their products at the Minneapolis Gift and Accessory Show scheduled today through Tuesday.
BISMARCK — Roger Johnson, North Dakota’s agriculture commissioner since 1996, said today he’s a candidate for National Farmers Union president and, if elected next Tuesday, will resign his state office.
