How ironic to read the front-page article of the Metro/State section (Nov. 29) about Brenden Woodard, the 19-year-old who is the seventh generation in his family to proudly ring the Salvation Army bell at Christmas, only to turn the page and read the letter to the editor from Richard Kodadek, who calls the red-kettle bell- ringers “beggars.”
A letter to the editor by a Moorhead man that painted Salvation Army holiday bell-ringers as noisy “beggars” who harass shoppers for cash was met with a mix of puzzlement and scorn on talk radio Monday as supporters of the disaster-relief agency sprang to its defense.
