The United Way of Cass-Clay announced Friday it has exceeded its 2010 fundraising goal of $5 million. The total the agency expects to receive is $5,001,059, which is a 2.5 percent increase over the amount raised the previous year.
The Fargo Park District’s 24th annual Santa Village at Rheault Farm drew more than 10,875 visitors from Nov. 27 to Dec. 23 and collected $2,689 in cash donations to benefit those in need in the community.
The Democratic-NPL of Cass County is sponsoring a mitten, sock and hat giving tree during December at its Fargo headquarters, 1137 19th Ave. N.
All items collected will be given to students at area elementary schools.

More than 9,550 shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies and other items were dropped off at churches and other facilities in the Moorhead area during National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child.

Whether by boat, plane, sled dog or camel, donations from local residents will make it to the world’s children in time for Christmas.
Operation Christmas Child will soon be under way, and Fargo-Moorhead residents are being asked to donate what they can to help send shoe box gifts to more than 8 million kids in 100 countries.
