Gophers advance over No. 2-seeded Miami 
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Rodney Williams scored 21 points to lead Minnesota to a 78-60 victory over Miami in a second round NIT game Monday night.
The Gophers never trailed after starting the game on a 12-0 run. Williams scored 16 points in the first half and has now scored 20 or more points in his last three games.
“I feel like I’ve been a little bit more consistent lately,” Williams said. “The guys have been giving me the ball in the right spots. I was feeling good.”

NDSU softball pitcher Menke honored for 2nd straight week 
North Dakota State freshman Krista Menke was named the Summit League softball pitcher of the week for the second straight week.
She posted a 5-2 record with three shutouts in NDSU’s Spring Break trip. She struck out 45 batters, walked 12 and gave up seven earned runs in 48.1 innings.

Sioux men turn the ball over 16 times in a loss to Drake 
DES MOINES, Iowa – In the big picture, the North Dakota men’s basketball team has completed the difficult NCAA Division I transition and expects to return four sophomore starters from a program that qualified for postseason play two years in a row.
In the short term, Wednesday night’s late-game shortcomings in a winnable game against Drake of the Missouri Valley Conference stung.
The Sioux turned the ball over 16 times, including a crucial turnover trailing by two points with 24 seconds left, and struggled from the free-throw line in falling 70-64 to the Bulldogs in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament in front of 1,829 at Knapp Center.
The Sioux close out the year 17-15 overall.

Bison softball team loses two in Texas 
WACO, Texas – North Dakota State’s softball team lost a pair of one run games on Tuesday in Texas.
Courtney Repka and Liz Paul combined to pitch a shutout for Baylor and a 1-0 victory.
Taylor Mortensen scored two runs for NDSU in a 6-5 loss to Texas-San Antonio.

Bison track teams both picked to win Summit 
FARGO – The North Dakota State men’s and women’s track and field teams were picked to win the Summit League outdoor title in a poll of the league’s head coaches Tuesday.
The Bison women received all nine of the first-place votes for 81 points. Southern Utah was picked second with 67 points.
The Bison men received 60 points, edging Southern Utah by a single point.

Menke shares Summit’s pitcher of the week honor 
ELHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State’s Krista Menke and IPFW’s Courtney Cornin were named the Summit League’s co-pitchers of the week Monday.
Menke threw her first career no-hitter against Liberty in a 1-0 Bison win on Saturday.

Five F-M hockey players receive MIAC honors 
MOORHEAD – Five Fargo-Moorhead high school graduates earned postseason honors in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men’s hockey.
Beau Christian of Moorhead, a senior goaltender at Hamline, was named to the MIAC all-conference team as was Erick Galt of Fargo South, a senior defenseman for Concordia.

Cobber women ousted by RIT in quarterfinals 
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The latest stride made by the Concordia women’s hockey program came to an end Saturday, as the Cobbers lost 5-2 to Rochester Institute of Technology in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III women’s hockey tournament.
The national tournament berth was a first for Concordia.
“It was great to get here, but I don’t think we’re satisfied with the outcome,” Cobbers head coach Brett Bruininks said. “We’d like to continue to work hard and get back here again.”
