It’s natural to have some “back of the tree” Christmas decorations.
They’re the old, dinged-up ornaments or boring glass balls that don’t typically warrant front-and-center display on the holiday tannenbaum.
But maybe you’re a thrifty sort who can’t bear the thought of throwing them away.
Thanksgiving can be the Longest Day of the Year for kids.
A holiday that centers on overeating and marathon football just can’t compete with the glitz and mystique of Christmas. A kid is bound to start chanting, “I’m bored,” somewhere in between the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the pumpkin pie course.
There are several sentences I’ve never uttered before.
One is: “Yes, I’d love to learn about this new network-marketing opportunity.” The other is: “Let’s get there early so we can be the first in line at ‘Saw 3-D!’ ”
And, until recently, the last one was: “Sure, I’d like to attend a scrapbooking retreat.”
The Red River Valley Woodcarvers Club Annual Woodcarving Show and Competition will be from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Doublewood Inn, 3333 13th Ave. S., Fargo. The event is free and open to the public.
