Legislation contains Eken downstream provision
ST. PAUL – A compromise protecting communities downstream from a proposed Fargo-Moorhead flood diversion project won legislative approval Monday night, but the bill containing the provision is destined for a gubernatorial veto.
ST. PAUL – Red River Valley legislators agree that communities downstream from a Fargo-Moorhead flood diversion project need to be protected, but not all like a provision Rep. Kent Eken, DFL-Twin Valley, inserted into a House bill.
ST. PAUL – The Minnesota House voted Monday night to protect Red River Valley residents downstream from a proposed Fargo-Moorhead flood-prevention project, saying they should not face worse flooding just to protect the river’s largest metropolitan area.
ST. PAUL – One theme seems to be emerging for the upcoming 2009 Minnesota legislative session that gets under way on Jan. 6 – reform.
With a massive state budget deficit, there is widespread agreement that state spending practices must change.
