Get a solid grasp on one thread, and you can pull the whole sweater apart.
That’s often the upshot of the first conviction in cases involving conspiracy allegations. A defendant found guilty typically has a built-in incentive – a break on sentencing – to testify in the still-pending cases.

The nine women and three men handed down the verdicts shortly after 11 a.m., convicting Nakvinda of murder, robbery, burglary and theft.
The man accused of killing Philip Gattuso took the stand in his own defense on Tuesday, but jurors won’t hear him explain how he ended up with the hammer used to kill Gattuso or the dentist’s stolen car until the trial resumes today.
In two hours of testimony this afternoon, Philip Gattuso’s former father-in-law denied both ordering the death of the Fargo dentist and framing the man he’s accused of hiring as a hitman, Michael Nakvinda.
