Fargo - Emma Schalow takes gymnastics seriously. Her start in the sport can be traced back to when she was just 18 months old. And now, as a 17-year-old, Schalow is preparing for the biggest gymnastics meet of her young career.
Fargo - As a dozen budding gymnasts carrying sippy cups walked through the American Gold Gymnastics gym with wide eyes and even wider smiles Wednesday, Moorhead junior gymnast Maren Seljevold couldn’t help but reflect on her 13 years of gymnastics.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Maren Seljevold secured a berth at the Minnesota Class 2A state gymnastics meet.
Seljevold qualified for state in the balance beam, vault and all-around at the Section 8 championships Saturday.
The North Dakota gymnastics postseason is right around the corner, and both the Fargo and Fargo Davies squads are looking to sustain late-season success.
Fargo, a co-op team from four Fargo high schools, is ranked seventh out of 11 teams in the state. Davies is ranked eighth.
There’s an aura surrounding the locker room for underclassmen. It’s a place to keep one’s head down and maybe, just maybe, a junior or senior will pass on a kind word about a performance. The underclassmen are just renting the locker room from upperclassmen.
FARGO – Twenty athletes from the American Gold Gymnastics will travel to Des Moines, Iowa, this weekend to compete in a meet hosted by Chow’s Gymnastics – home to 2012 Olympic champion Gabby Douglas, 2008 Olympic champion Shawn Johnson and their coach Liang Chow.
