Candidates play it safe before Tuesday's primary
ST. PAUL – Their race drawing to a close, Minnesota Democrats Mark Dayton, Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Matt Entenza offered voters a last-minute refresher Sunday in a gubernatorial debate where all three appeared to play it safe.
Margaret Anderson Kelliher vowed Thursday that if she is elected governor of Minnesota, one priority will be to make sure the state provides matching dollars to ensure that a North Dakota Red River diversion project gets built.

ST. PAUL – If they are Democrats, they must be talking about jobs.
Creating jobs traditionally is a key Democratic-Farmer-Laborite campaign issue, and the 2010 governors’ primary race is no exception. The three major candidates – Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Matt Entenza and Mark Dayton – all want to fund public works projects and take other steps to increase jobs, but there are differences.
ST. PAUL – Republicans most fear Mark Dayton in the governor’s race.
Dayton brings the best name recognition of any candidate of any party, thanks in a good share to his family’s department store roots. He has been running for more than a year, and he has put in years in highly visible U.S. Senate and state offices.
