Born in a Fargo backyard, Express Bagger draws national acclaim
It was a simple idea, born out of necessity during the 1997 flood: two oversized funnels set side by side, designed for filling sandbags in rapid fashion.
Moorhead officials said Tuesday that before they decide whether the city should build a $1.7 million sandbag facility, they need to discuss further whether all residents should pay to protect private property threatened by flooding.
Rental of building $12,890 per month
The city of Fargo will pay nearly $13,000 a month for warehouse space over the next year to store the bulk of 370,000 unused sandbags from this spring’s flood fight.

About 350,000 unused sandbags left over from Fargo’s flood fight have been sitting outside for a month, exposed to the elements – including ultraviolet rays that break down the plastic bags – as the city waits for clearance to use storage buildings.
