Fargo taxpayers were not allowed to vote on the $45 million Davies High School, and we didn’t get to vote on financial participation in the $15 million-plus Bluestem Regional Arts Center in Minnesota.
Based on a requirement of the 2009 North Dakota Legislature, the Fargo Board of Education has scheduled a special election to be held Tuesday. This is a critically important election for residents in the Fargo School District, and I strongly encourage everyone’s participation.
I know Tuesday’s special Fargo school election question could have been placed on the June ballot, but the school board knew they would get more teacher participation by holding it during the school year at school locations.
A “yes” vote on Tuesday’s Fargo School District ballot will preserve the flexibility the schools need to maintain and enhance the quality of education for students.

Because of the active participation of Fargo parents and strong support of the community, students in the Fargo Public School District enjoy an excellent student-to-teacher ratio and a rich curriculum taught by a faculty at least 60 percent of whom hold master’s degrees.
